from sucking ice-poles.

A man catches a bus
seven minutes too late
to catch his wife.

A spider scuttles
up the arm of a girl
in a bath.

7.
A boy puts on
his grandmother’s lipstick.
It bleeds into his face.

8.
A librarian
in winter.
Daffodil bulbs.

9.
A folded tissue.
Red lipstick.
Smudged mascara.

10.
Hadrian’s Wall.
Years later she walks here
in the wind.
